Interested in 65% tax credits from Virginia?  Would you like to help support North Cross students whose families are below 300% of the federal poverty level?

For the past few years, we’ve had a program that does all these things.  It is called the North Cross Foundation. Through the Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits Program (EISTCP) the Commonwealth of Virginia State Department of Education approved our program.  

When you are pre-approved and make a donation to our Foundation, you receive a 65% tax credit. Your donation will help provide tuition support for the students here who meet the criteria to receive the support.  We typically have 50 or 60 students who do meet the State’s criteria.

The commonwealth gets pretty busy with these as the year comes to a close, so get the process started soon for this tax year.  We want to make sure you have time to complete the process and it is a pretty easy process.  

You cannot make your gift to the Foundation without following the commonwealth's prescribed process.  They won't accept it if you don’t first have your gift pre-authorized.  Don’t worry, it is pretty straight forward.  There are 4 steps - and we help you with each step:

  1. Fill out a pre-approval form - we send it to you and you send it back to us.  Before you make a donation, you have to tell Virginia's DOE what the amount of your gift is and be ok’d by the state to make it. 
  2. Second step - once they approve your request, which is usually right away, we will send you their approval form indicating they have authorized you to make the gift you requested.
  3. Third step - when you are ready to make your gift, complete the approval form (from step 2), sign and date it, and send it to us with your gift.
  4. Fourth step - We will submit these to the commonwealth and when they approve the gift, we will send you the tax credit form you will file with your taxes.

Our minimum Foundation gift level is $2,500 and our annual goal this year is to have $320,000 in gifts to our Foundation.  Individuals can make a gift up to $125,000 in a year, and corporations have no limits on how much they can give.

The simplest gift, once you are approved, is a check.  Stock gifts are also possible; however, stocks never seem to hit the pre-authorized gift amount, which means there may be an overage or shortfall.  Either way, we’ll help you every step of the way.
